The Martin County Anglers will Roast Karl Wickstrom
This was done a few years ago and was a huge success. The Martin County Anglers have nominate Karl Wickstrom for the large impact he had had on the fishing industry & local community.
In February, the Martin County Anglers voted to give the honor of Angler of the Year to Karl Wickstrom, Editor-in-Chief & Founder of Florida Sportsman magazine. Florida Sportsman is only Karl’s day job though. He is also known far and wide as a passionate conservationist who never backs down from a cause he believes in. Karl has stepped up to help MCAC on many occasions and has also spearheaded groups including the River Coalition, Save Our Everglades, Martin County Reefs, Florida Oceanographic Society, the ban on inshore gill nets and many other causes with close relations to the environment. The magazine he founded back in 1969, after being inspired while on vacation, now writes a monthly column that helps keep readers up to date on critical environmental issues that affect Florida sport fishing. Those of us living in Martin County have the pleasure of enjoying the rewards and results of Karl’s fights.
Please join us on March 12th as the Martin County Anglers Club and others from the community honor this great man. This would also be a great opportunity to introduce a friend to the club and highlight some of the great things the club does within the community and the benefits of being a member.
